Biography of Richard A. Gole
A native of the
New York City metropolitan area, Mr. Gole refers to himself as a “Hoosier who talks funny”. Mr. Gole comes from a family of lawyers; his father practiced law for over 40 years in
New York City and on
Long Island and both of his children are lawyers. Mr. Gole’s daughter, Rebecca Geyer, practices in Metropolitan Indianapolis where she specializes in elder law and estate planning and his son Aaron resides in
Chicago and works in a litigator in a small specialty trial firm.
Mr. Gole has resided in
Indiana since 1963 where he began studying at
Indiana
University from which he received both a Bachelor of Science in business in 1967 and Juris Doctor in law in 1970. Mr. Gole has practiced law continuously in the
Indianapolis metropolitan area since 1970 and has been exposed to many aspects of the legal profession which include:
Working as a store front lawyer for Indianapolis Legal Services in the then inner-city of
Indianapolis with an office situated in the
Walker
Theater
Building;
Serving as staff counsel for the Indiana Civil Rights Commission where he pursued employment discrimination cases and which position also allowed him the opportunity to open a small private law practice;
For over 10 years he worked as a Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City of
Indianapolis where his duties involved legal oversight of the city’s multimillion dollar Community Development Block Grant.
Mr. Gole being blessed with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and realizing the suburbs were rapidly expanding, in 1972 opened the first suburban law office in the Castleton area of
Indianapolis . He experienced first hand the growth and development of the Northeast suburbs which beside Castleton included Lawrence, Geist and Fishers. Mr. Gole spent 34 years in this area of the city of which the last 16 years were at an office at 71st Street and Binford Boulevard.
In October 2006, Mr. Gole once again moved. He relocated to his current North Michigan Road office in another rapidly developing suburban area; the West Carmel/Zionsville, North Michigan Road corridor.
During the earlier part of his legal career, Mr. Gole was also a member of the United States Army Reserves. He retired after 21 years of service having obtained the rank of Lieutenant Colonal in the JAG Corp. He has and continues to represent military personnel and spent a good portion of his Army Reserve career at
Fort
Benjamin
Harrison where he provided “hands-on” legal assistance to soldiers and their families.
In 1979, after the commencement of lawyer advertising, Mr. Gole’s entrepreneurial spirit once again lead him to a new venture; to the creation of a multi-office lawfirm. Eventually he was simultaneously operating offices in Castleton as well as in
Anderson ,
Muncie and
Richmond Indiana . After several years of engaging in this multiple location arrangement, Mr. Gole determined his talents were better suited to a traditional one office format which he has conducted business under for more than 25 years.
Mr. Gole’s varied legal career has lead to the development of an attorney who has experience and understanding of a variety of different legal situations. It enables Mr. Gole, to make the claim that he “handles most legal matters for which an individual or small business requires an attorney”.
